The Organized Confusion Playlist Episode #3

This podcast is a musical tribute to a sadly departed but brilliant HBO original series, SIX FEET UNDER. A groundbreaking show about the Fishers, a family of funeral directors that confront and contemplate life and death. The soundtrack to the show became a vehicle for many independent musicians through the musical taste of family’s youngest, Claire: a precocious art major just trying to find her way – as we all do.

The first episode I ever saw of this show was during the first season. My family had just gotten cable recently and wanted to check it out. While channel-flipping, my sister and I came across this weird show we had heard very little about.  That episode was “The Foot” lol. If I recall correctly, we were both shocked by what we saw. After that, I didn’t see the show again for a couple of seasons, but it was the final two seasons when I really got hooked. When I purchased the series on DVD, I watched the entire series back-to-back and was completely blown away.

Whether you are tuning in as a fan or a novice looking for some great music, I hope you enjoy this compilation from one of the best shows on television to date. For those super fans, the full listing for the show’s music credits can be found on HBO’s website.

The Organized Confusion Playlist Episode #2

This podcast was inspired by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Ceremonies, directed by Zhang Yimou, as well as the completion of the animated series, Nickelodeon’s Avatar the Last Airbender. It features score tracks from several of Yimou’s films as well as clips from Avatar.

Coparck – A Good Year for Robots

Recently on Myspace, there was a featured video for Tori Amos’ latest project, Comic Book Tattoo. An interesting interview where Tori discusses her experience in the music industry, her long-time creative friendship with Neil Gaiman (of the Sandman comic series) and the overall collaboration of artists. Those who know me know that I used to be an avid Tori fan back in the day, but like a long distance old friend, I lost touch with her music somewhere around The BeeKeeper album… A creative new endeavor from a brilliant and eclectic artist such as Tori Amos proves not only topical (i.e. the comic uprising in Hollywood covered in the latest Dark Knight review), but inspirational as well!

Take me with You, Tinman

Tin Man, a modern retelling of the Wizard of Oz starring Zooey Dechanel as DG and Alan Cumming as Glitch (aka Scarecrow), looks fantastic! Zooey always brings back memories for me, as she and I attended the infamous French Woods Festival, a performing arts camp in upstate New York, around the same time (late 1990′s). Remembering a particularly pitchy rendition of “You do something to me” by Cole Porter… (Owww, my foot hurts from name-dropping! She still looks great and I am happy for all her success!

Back to Tin Man (IMDB): How long has this miniseries been on? What’s the deal with it? Will it grow to a full blown TV show? Will it become a movie? Don’t know, but it looks great from what I can tell by this video… I wonder if it’s on DVD (*cough* torrent) yet. Since moving, I have been without cable channels higher than Channel 21 (at my cost-concious housemates request), so I have not been privy to channel flipping discoveries as much. Will definitely be looking into it!

The Organized Confusion Playlist – Episode #1

As promised, the first Orgconfuz Playlist podcast has been dedicated to the wily independent spirits, playfully living out the days of summer before heading off to (or going back to) college. Particularly my cousins – Wyatt, Abby, Megan, Kate and Todd. Ah, the folly of youth!

These songs are a compilation from older and new artists with one common goal – to sound good in the background while either lying on a sandy beach, galavanting in your car, or just plain having fun. Although these are classic tracks from all, the opportunity to seek out their full catalogue of music is highly encouraged!

This podcast was created with Garageband. (My first experience creating a podcast, so please forgive the poor microphone quality and the hokey DJ voice, both of which shall improve over time… we hope.)

Via Audio played the Bowery Ballroom, one of my favorite venues in NYC. They opened up for The Spring Standard, who was having their CD release Party. In February 2008, I saw Via Audio open for the fantastic Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin at Mercury Lounge. (They both rocked the house!)

In the upcoming Organized Confusion Playlist podcast, both bands will be featured as well as a few more summer tunes! Inspired by certain freshman and pre-college age family members, this podcast will be dedicated to the independent spirited youth of the world.
